Client: WAW Credit Union
Challenge: Relevance, Brand Awareness, and Audience Expansion
Overview
WAW Credit Union approached us with a significant challenge: their brand felt outdated, and consumer understanding of credit unions was diminishing. They wanted to appeal to a younger audience without alienating their loyal, long-term customers. As a community-focused financial institution, WAW needed a modern brand that could connect with today’s audience while honouring their existing members.
Our Solution
We began by identifying the heart of WAW’s identity and exploring ways to bridge its legacy with a fresh perspective. After extensive research and strategic discussions, our team presented several potential new brand names. WAW selected BankWAW, a name that speaks to their core services while making their offering immediately clear to potential customers.
With the new name chosen, we crafted an entirely new brand identity for BankWAW, covering everything from logo design and visual language to brand messaging and tone of voice. Our goal was to create a brand that felt both modern and approachable, appealing to younger generations while reassuring long-time customers of BankWAW’s commitment to community values and financial empowerment.
Results
The launch of BankWAW redefined the client’s market presence, breathing life into their brand and improving customer awareness of their unique offering. By transforming from a credit union to a modern financial partner, BankWAW is now well-positioned to engage a broader audience while strengthening its connection with the community.

“We asked the team at Impala to assist us with our total rebrand as we realised that our brand had become stale and needed a lift, without losing its identity as an established name in the local community.
Impala breathed new life into our brand, creating the direction for our new logo, assets, and brand guidelines.
Throughout the process, there was excellent communication, and everything was completed in a timely manner.
We were overwhelmed with the finished branding—it was everything we had imagined and more.”
